Silk duchess satins and duplon are suited to a more structured gown, making it ideal for tight bodices, full skirts and more rigid styling. Medium to heavy weight silk satins are good for full skirts and unlike duchesses can be gathered.

The softer silk satins are perfect for the daring bias cuts and can be tailored to the body.

Drapey silks - chiffon and georgette - are perfect for slinky, whispy, floaty gown styles and are also used for sheer soft overlays or as an underlaye for chantilly lace. A romantic softening effect.

Embroided and handpainted silks can complete an outfit, adding that extra detail and finishing.
